13 year old Megan Aird (Strathmore) continues to amaze everyone with her wonderful golfing acheivements. Megan got her first 18 hole handicap this season - starting at 26. She immediately reduced to 24 then to 21. Megan has joined the SLGA competition circuit and took part in the Ladies Junior Open Strokeplay Championships at Stirling this week. An excellent scratch 91 in the second round reduced her handicap and then a final round scratch 87 - nett 66 won her the under 14s best nett of the day! Megan's handicap is now 18.3.
I have just heard news from Strathmore - Megan has played today and shot a nett 68 and reduced her handicap still further to 17.4.
Well done Megan!

The inter-county Team Championships are being hosted by Perth and Kinross at Crieff Golf Club on June 24th, 25th and 26th. This is an ideal opportunity for our junior girls to come along and watch the cream of golfers compete at top level. The players will be from P&K, Angus, Aberdeenshire and Northern Counties. To be even more involved we are looking for girls to come along and caddy at the weekend. This will enable you to watch the golf from the best view available. If you don't fancy being a caddy then there are other jobs you could do to help over the weekend. To enable us to arrange a rota I would ask that you contact me on 01828 633000 or 01828 633395 and let me know your availability.
Thanks

Intermediate Coaching - Noah's Ark
These 6 girls braved the perrishing north-east winds on Sunday 9th April at Noah's Ark and kept smiling throughout the 2 hours.
Here they are, from the left Emily Harrison, Megan Aird, Caitlin Bartrop, Shona Dunbar, Ailie Burnett and Lauren Marchbank.
Neil had the girls working very hard on the long game and they are all hitting the ball much further than last season, so we can expect those handicaps to be in the teens very soon!
They finished with some pitching, adjusting the swing length for the distance required to the pin.
Below are these girls in action:
Ailie and Caitlin
Emily and Lauren
Shona and Megan
Well done all of you see you on Sunday 7th May, hope spring has come by then!

Pre-handicap Coaching
It was a freezing cold day but five girls braved the elements and smiled all through the two hours.
Andy Lamb worked with the girls on their long game while Andy's wife Jan put them through their paces pitching and putting.
The girls are continuing to work on the junior golf passport, they had started this last season.
All are hitting the ball very well and should be able to return three cards for handicaps in the coming season.
Looking a wee bit cold: Eilidh Dear, Louise Callum, Lucy McNab Jennifer Smith and Rebecca Hutt.
The next session for these girls will be 6th May hopefully spring will have sprung by then!

Elite Girls Coaching
As you see Perthshire displayed one of her most beautiful aspects!
David and John chatted with the girls about their practice routines and the importance of visualization of each shot, both during practice and on the course.
On the range all the girls are hitting with much improved consistency so we expect handicaps to come tumbling down as soon as the season begins.
Below are some of the swings that escaped capture last time!

Gleneagles 29/01/06
Our elite group of girls had their first coaching session at Gleneagles on Sunday 29th January.
The girls are pictured above, back row:
Eve Muirhead, Karen Dunbar, Janet Griffiths ( County Captain ), Dawn Butchart ( Vice Captain )
front row:
Laura Campbell, Lucy Gilmour, Jacqueline Sneddon, Annabel Niven, Fiona Allan.
Captain Janet welcomed the girls, wishing them an enjoyable and successful season, she encouraged them to enter as many as possible of the SLGA and LGU Junior Fixtures. She also hoped that they will take part in the county meetings, especially the championship.
Stewart and David, the two Gleneagles professionals, then took over and found out a little about the aims and targets the girls have set for themselves. Moving on to the range they did some work on short irons this enabled the professionals to get an idea of the girls strengths and weaknesses. They finished off with some pitching work.
Hopefully the girls have found the session useful, we can see how well some of them are swinging from the pictures below!
