Alyth Hit by Lightning
The Junior Meeting for the Drysdale and Karen Dallas Trophies at Alyth turned out to be a bit of a damp squib!
As all around suffered a torrential down pour Alyth stayed dry long enough to let all the girls get off the first tee but the thunder rumbled ever closer and as the last group putted out on the first green the hooter sounded and everyone had to make a dash for cover.
When a head count was taken, back in the club house, three girls and three ladies were missing!!
It was soon discovered that they had taken refuge in a summerhouse somewhere near the eighth so when the rain eased buggies were dispatched to rescue them and all was well.
We all enjoyed a good lunch and lots of chat but no more golf.
Many thanks to Alyth for their warm hospitality.
We had provisionally booked Monday 5th October to replay this competition but this does not suit some of the girls so we will let everyone know when we find another date.

COUNTY GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP
Our warmest congratulations go to our new Scratch Girl Champion Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) who played brilliant golf over Crieff yesterday. Eilidh returned an excellent 84. In second place was Nicola Robertson (Dunblane) 89 and third was Ailie Burnett (Dunkeld and Birnam) 90. In the handicap section it was a nail biting finish, the winner was Laura Aitken (Killin) (19) who returned an excellent 73 just pipping Lauren Marchbank (Auchterarder) (19) who also returned 73 however Laura lifted the trophy by virtue of best last three. In third place was Patricia Mennie (Auchterarder) (21) 74. The CSS was 73. The play was excellent and I was delighted to walk round and watch the display of golf the girls achieved. Perth and Kinross is certainly safe hands with these girls coming through the junior section and I am sure that in the not to distant future we will be seeing more than a few of these girls names in our senior team.
In the nine hole event the winners were Jennifer Saxton (Milnathort) who returned 45. In second place was Jennifer Duncan (Auchterarder) 47 and third place went to Jennifer Mennie (Auchterarder) 55. A great day for the 'Jennifers'!! Congratulations to all of them and sincere thanks to member Pat Colquhoun who donated a trophy for the 9 hole girls.
The turn out for day was suberb 15 girls played the 18 hole course and 15 played over the 9 hole course. Our sincere thanks go to Crieff Captain Eileen Callander who organised a band of very willing Crieff members to come along and help with the younger 9 hole girls. Also thanks go to Crieff Golf Club for providing courtesy, to Carol Lambie for organising the event and our president Liz Miskimmin for presenting the prizes.
Below is a slide show of the day. Lenore also took photo's of the nine hole girls which I will post soon. Above is a photo of the prizewinners. From left to right they are Nicola Roberson 2nd Scratch, Eilidh Watson Scratch Champion, Laura Aitken Handicap Champion, Lauren Marchbank 2nd Handicap and Patricia Mennie 3rd Handicap.
