It was good to meet some of the County's newest recruits and their mums at Noah's Ark on Friday.
Niall McGill welcomed Mollie Castle, Georgia McKay and Ailie Ross-Oliver. The girls immediately got down to swinging their 7 irons at a big basket of golf balls, whilst Niall assessed their methods. Each girl then worked on an individual aspect of their golf game before finishing the coaching session with some valuable putting techniques.
The next session will be Sunday 1st May, 10am at Noah's Ark and hopefully there will be a full turn out of six girls.
Meanwhile up at Strathmore Golf Centre Kirsty Brodie, Zoe Morton, Megan Ashley and Amy Mitchell were competing in the Scottish Girls (under 18) Golf Open (6th, 7th and 8th April). This was a strong representation from our County girls amongst a field of competitors from UK, Norway, Germany, Denmark, etc and even one girl from Dubai. The format is 18 holes stroke play each day with the top 60 qualifying for the final stroke play round on Friday.
Kirsty played on the final day and finished 18th equal with a total of 222. The winner was Emily Price from England on 213. Our congratulations to our County girls and well done Amy Mitchell, who had a late call up to play in the Championship and after carding a 77 on day two, only narrowly missed playing in the final 60.
